My Picky Eaters Have A Problem With Meal Kit Options, What Do I Do?

Meal kits can be convenient for adults who don’t have many strict preferences, but they can be a minefield for kids who are picky eaters.

Many parents struggle with keeping their picky eater well-fed, even a dietitian recommends skipping a subscription meal delivery kit altogether if you have a picky eater at home.

Blogger Kate Etue got real on ‘Cool Mom Eats' when she compared a couple of the big meal kit services available to her, finding some to be acceptable or even a hit with her kids. Others ended up being major misses, even when they were specifically supposed to be catering to children.

She said she wasn’t sure about trying a big brand like Blue Apron because “while the Sweet Corn and Ricotta Cannelloni looks delicious, there’s no way my picky eaters would touch it.” She adds, “If you’re following a particular diet, you may have a hard time with Blue Apron. Currently none of the family meal options will work with my Paleo lifestyle. ” She said the one plus was that she could add wine to her order, but unfortunately that doesn’t improve the meal for kids.”

When it came to the meal kit Yumble (designed specifically for kids), she says some things were a big hits. She was surprised to find classic chicken tenders to be a “flop” due to their “unappetizing” pre-cooked/reheat method.

Feeding kids can be tough, especially when you’re trying to get them to eat healthy, but there’s a better way than potentially unreliable meal kits that might be beloved one day and then inedible the next.

Working with a personal chef can give you more control over what your kids are eating while taking cooking off your hands entirely. Allowing you to spend both your family’s time and money more wisely.
